Rosenstolz – Wir sind Wir!

Just in time for their 20th stage anniversary, ARD aired this one-hour documentary on October 21, 2011. It tells the story of Peter Plate and AnNa R ., who found each other musically in Berlin shortly after the fall of the Wall—and went on to make German music history.

At first, the record industry and radio stations didn’t know what to do with their German pop, so the two took a detour via the subculture—winning fans’ hearts with songs like Die Schlampen sind müde, Liebe ist alles, and Gib mir Sonne—and eventually becoming a celebrated duo.

All the more dramatic was their split in 2012, driven by success pressure and depression—the darker sides of the music business.
