Marc Boettcher
Filmmaker, producer, director, author, dramaturge, actor
Born in Berlin, Marc Boettcher studied acting, theatre studies and German studies. He made his first films while still at school. (Audience Award for “Das tödliche Telefon” at the Hannover Student Film Festival, 1982)
Since 1988 he has worked as a dramaturge, actor and director.
Engagements in Stuttgart, Lübeck and Berlin.
During his career he worked as a freelance TV editor and has been successful since 1990 as a dubbing writer/director (including “Eisenstein in Guanajuato”, “Call Me by Your Name”, as well as series such
as “Eine himmlische Familie”, “Der Name der Rose” and “We Are Who We Are”).
This was followed by numerous publications, essays, a book about Henrik Ibsen, and in 1998 his first biography of the pop icon “Alexandra”, published by Knaur Verlag in Munich.
1992 – Founded the theatre “Kunstgriff e. V.”
1999 – Founded the production company “MB-Film”. Produced the 90-minute TV portrait and ratings hit “Alexandra – Die Legende einer Sängerin”
2002 – Book biography “Stranger In The Night – Die Bert Kaempfert Story”, Groenevold Verlag, Hamburg
2003 – TV production of the 120-minute TV documentary “Strangers In The Night – Die Bert Kaempfert Story”
2004 – Second book “Alexandra – Die Legende einer Sängerin”, Parthas Verlag, Berlin
2006 – TV production of the 120-minute TV documentary “Ich will alles – Die Gitte Henning Story”, multiple awards, including an Adolf Grimme Award nomination
2011 – NDR TV production “Rosenstolz – Wir sind Wir!” for the band “Rosenstolz” on their 20th stage anniversary
2012 – Cinema production of the 120-minute TV documentary “SING! INGE, SING! – der zerbrochene Traum der Inge Brandenburg” (FBW rating “Prädikat Wertvoll”, “Documentary of the Month” by FBW Wiesbaden; the soundtrack and DVD received the “Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik”)
2012 – TV co-production with ARTE “Die deutsche Lady Jazz – Inge Brandenburg” – nominated for the Adolf Grimme Award 2013
March 2016 – Talk guest on “ARD alpha” – 45 minutes about life and career
2017 – Book publication “SING! INGE, SING! – der zerbrochene Traum der Inge Brandenburg”, Parthas Verlag, Berlin
2018 – Co-author of the book “Siegfried Behrend – Stationen”
2019 – Music production “I Love Jazz” – featuring songs by jazz singer Inge Brandenburg; nomination for the “Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik”
2021 – 90-minute film portrait “Belina – Music For Peace” (FBW rating “Prädikat Wertvoll”) and music production of the CD of the same name with UniSono Records (nomination for the “Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik”)
2021 – World premiere of “Belina” at the “30th Jewish Film Festival Vienna”; German premiere at the 38th Kasseler Dokfest
2022/23 – Successful festival run with “Belina”, among others in Melbourne, Bucharest, Prague and Berlin; opening film of the 1st Filmklang Festival in Göppingen; award at the 2nd Oberschwäbische Filmtage in Ravensburg
